| User Interface |
The program Auto Outlook Express Backup is used to back up the most popular mail client Outlook Express.
Data backups allow the Outlook Express user to protect himself against various computer failures, virus
attacks, etc.
The program backs up not only messages, but also other important data: address book, accounts, signatures,
blocked senders, rules, Outlook Express settings and Internet Explorer favorites.
The additional benefit of using Auto Outlook Express Backup is the possibility to use the program for
moving Outlook Express data from one computer to another.
In order to protect your data safely, you should back up your data regularly. The best variant is to do
it daily. The program has a special feature to solve this problem - Auto Backup. The Auto Backup feature
makes it possible to back up Outlook Express data automatically.
|
| Backing up Outlook Express data |
It is quite easy to back up Outlook Express data with the help of Auto Outlook Express
Backup. To do it, start the program. It will switch to the mode for creating backups
right after it is started.
Tip: you can switch between the working modes of the program by clicking the toolbar
buttons in the left part of the window.
Select the Identity you want to back up from the "Identity for backup" drop-down list.
Then specify the folder where you want to save the backup file and the name of this file.
By default, the program offers you to use a name of the following format: YYYYMMDD.NBK.
If you want to, you can specify a password for the file you are creating and thus protect
information stored in it. We recommend that you use passwords not shorter than 8 characters
and consisting of both letters and digits. Do not use your name, telephone number, license
plate, birth date and other similar information because such passwords can be easily broken.
You can also add any comment to the file in the "Comment:" field.
Then specify the items you want to add to the backup file.
Click the "Backup" button and wait until the backup process is finished. Depending on the
number and size of messages stored in Outlook Express folders, the backup process may take
more or less time.
|
| Restoring Outlook Express data |
Click the "Restore" toolbar button in the left part of the program window to switch to
the mode for restoring Outlook Express data.
It is as easy to restore Outlook Express data as it is to create a backup file. To do it,
you should select a backup file created earlier in the "Restore from" field.
If necessary, specify the password in the "Password:" field.
Use the "Restore to" drop-down list to select the Identity to which you want to restore
data from the backup file.
After that select the items you want to restore.
Click the "Restore" button and wait until the process of restoring Outlook Express data
from the backup copy is finished. Depending on the number and size of messages stored in
the backup file, the process of restoring may take more or less time.
|
| Automating the backup process |
Protecting data with the help of backups will be effective only if you make backups regularly.
Auto Outlook Express Backup allows the user not to remember about backing up data all the time
and makes backups on its own. Just enable the Auto Backup feature and the program will
automatically back up Outlook Express data at the specified intervals. We recommend that you
make backups once a day.
How it works.
Automatic backups will be made when the computer is started, but not more than once a day. You
can specify the backup interval from 1 to 30 days.
Click the "Scheduler" toolbar button in the left part of the program window to specify Auto
Backup options.
Select the "Enable auto backup" checkbox to enable Auto Backup. After that you should specify:
- Identities you want to back up
- The folder where you want to save backup copies
- You can specify a password if you want to. If you do not want to use a password, leave
the "Password:" field empty
- The interval for making automatic data backups (from 1 to 30 days)
- Select the "Keep only last XX backup files" checkbox if you want the program to keep
only last XX backup files in the output folder. It can be used to prevent the space
occupied by backup files from growing constantly with time
That's all. After you specify these parameters, you can just exit the program or switch to
another mode by clicking one of the toolbar buttons in the left part of the program window.
The Auto Backup feature will be activated and the fist "automatic" backup copy of Outlook
Express data will be made next time you start or restart the computer.
